Christopher Columbus came to the Island of Espaniola in 1492 (Dominican Republic at present). Dominican Republic occupies 2/3 part of the island that is equal to 48, 730 km2. Official language is Spanish. When Columbus has seen the land the first time he exclaimed: This is the most beautiful land that human eyes have seen!
Those who had traveled to Dominican Republic can confirm that Columbus´s words are absolutely true as the country has unlimited beautiful beach with deep and transparent waters with a lot of coke palm trees where every year thousands of people enjoy their vacations.
At the moment the population of the country is 9, 000, 000 people and only 3, 000, 000 of them are living in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican republic.
Not only multiple wonderful beaches but many mountain chains are located in the Dominican republic. The highest mountain in the Caribbean - Pico Duarte with the height of 3, 175 m over the sea level - is situated here as well.
Currency: Dominican peso but frequently dollars are accepted to/ For March, 2006, the exchange rate is calculated to be 35, 00 pesos for 1 dollar.
The average annual temperature is 27 C.
There are 4 main international airports in the country: Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Santiago, Puerto Plata and other new one is under construction in the northern coast between Nagua and Sanchez (inauguration November, 2006).
There are 3 main vacation areas in Dominican Republic:
1.) The most big one is in the eastern coast: Bavaro - Punta Cana that extends up to Ubero alto.
2.) South-eastern area with Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, La Romana, Bayahibe.
3.) North-Eastern with Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete up to Cabrera.
Now due to construction of the international airport between Naguay and Sanchez in the northeast of the country this area will become the forth biggest touristic pole in the country. Samana that is up to now playing very low paper in the touristic activities will be changed radically (Las Terrenas, Las Caleras, El Limon and Samana).
To my mind Samana is one of the most beautiful places on the island with her mountains and wonderful beach. More then that there is a highway under construction that will connect Santo Domingo and Samana and is planned to be finished by 2007 approximately.
Due to high interest for real estate purchasing (apartments, maisons, houses, etc.) Dominican Republic is considered to be very beneficiary for the investment in the real estate. Domininican republic is a mayor touristic pole in Caribbean area. On the beach one can find superior class projects under construction.
